The Ferrari F40 stands as one of the most coveted supercars of our era, making driving it a truly distinctive yet potentially nerve-racking encounter. A viral TikTok video recently showcased a scene that could be considered a petrolhead’s worst nightmare: an F40 reversing into a pole as the driver attempted to maneuver it within a confined space.

The gleaming Ferrari, which had seemingly maintained its flawless condition prior to the incident, was traversing the vicinity of the Marconi Museum in California amidst an array of classic cars. After a right turn, the driver put it in reverse, slowly backing up into the metal pole. To the driver’s defense, the F40 is not known for its great visibility towards the back, although one should be wary of the possible presence of any hidden-from-view items while backing up such a precious vehicle.

Several people were admiring and recording the slow-moving F40 while listening to its rumbling V8 engine. Astonishingly, despite the crowd’s presence, there was no prompt caution issued to the driver as the car steadily approached the impending obstacle. It was only when the supercar ominously neared the pole without any observable signs of slowing down that a voice erupted in a shout of warning, simultaneously accompanied by a gesture from another individual employing their hand to signal a halt. However, it was already too late for the driver who heard the loud and terrifying bang.

The composite bodywork of the F40 is made of kevlar, aluminum, and carbon fiber, so the rear panel is expensive to replace. Even if the damage was not so severe, a dent in the flat tail and the iconic integrated rear spoiler of the classic Ferrari is not something you feel comfortable with. Still, there is a chance that the low-speed crash didn’t leave any marks on the vehicle, offering a nice ending in the driver’s ordeal.

The video was uploaded on TikTok by @JJ_Sportz and cuts right after we hear the bang. However, the user’s next content shows the Ferrari F40 parked next to an F50 in the museum, hinting that the supercar might have escaped without any visible damage.
