A few decades ago, comfort wasn’t very high on the list of qualities that most cars needed to aspire to. Today, even the most burly work trucks need to offer some sort of tender and delicate seating arrangements. That being said, we think that the most comfortable seating is going to go to something that’s specifically leaning into luxury over anything else.

Our lead image is from one such contender, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, a car that doesn’t say luxury so much as it has its butler scream it at you. Go back and take another look, that’s not just one or even two pillows you see in each seat. It’s three. It’s not just one screen, it’s two. Don’t forget the champagne glasses or the massaging function on the seats either.

Still, others might challenge it. The Rolls-Royce Phantom seems to get quite a lot of praise. Evidently, the automaker worked with physicians to get these seats as perfect for the human body as possible. They, like the Maybach, feature calf support too. Still, few of us have likely had the chance to try either of these masterpieces.

With that in mind, we’re also going to make sure that this competition is open to normal cars too. Having spent some time in the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L recently I can assure you that it has some of the nicest seats I’ve ever seen.

They’re even better to sit in than they are to look at and I’m not just talking about the front row either. The second-row captain’s chairs are also great and, no joke, I’ve never seen such opulence in a third-row seat. That being said, I’m also certain that some other sub-$100,000 cars have great seats too.

Off the top of my head, the Kia Carnival, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, and Nissan models with their Zero Gravity seats could all be in the running. What do you think?
