The world of hypercars is awash in extraordinary figures, and Zenvo’s latest model is no exception. The automaker claims that the designers didn’t focus on achieving any numbers in particular. Instead, they worked on making the best car they could, and let the figures emerge.

The result is the Aurora, which today is being unveiled in two trim levels: the Agil and the Tur. The first is a track-focused, high-downforce performance version, while the Tur (Danish for Touring), is a slightly more relaxed, road-focused model.

Both are based on Zenvo’s brand new ZM1 modular monocoque, which the company says was designed to Formula 1-levels of structural safety. Offering 63,000Nm/deg of rigidity, the carbon composite part weighs just 265 lbs (120 kg).

Along with a design that leaves around 70 percent of the chassis uncovered, the Aurora is the lightest vehicle Zenvo has ever made. Similarly, the engine that forms the basis for both models is also exceedingly light.

 Zenvo Aurora Is A Crazy 280-MPH Hypercar With An 1,850-HP Hybrid V12

Developed by Mahle Powertrain, the Aurora is powered by an all-aluminum, mid-mounted V12 that weighs just 575 lbs (260 kg). The 6.6-liter engine is assisted by four turbochargers and can rev all the way up to 9,800 RPM, allowing it to produce 1,250 hp (932 kW/1,267 PS).

An impressive figure on its own, and the hybrid system only ups the ante from there. Intriguingly, the track-focused Agil is actually the less powerful of the two models and, as standard, comes with just one electric motor. Working together with the engine, the powertrain delivers 1,450 hp (1,081 kW/1,470 PS) to the rear wheels exclusively.

In this orientation, the electric motor helps to give the Aurora a kick off the line and to fill the torque valleys while the turbos spool up. Designed to deliver a pure, and aggressive driving experience, even the seven-speed transmission has been tuned to feel mechanical as mechanical as possible.

Zenvo says it chose to give the Aurora Agil just one electric motor to keep weight down, and driving experiences unassisted as possible. To help with on-track performance, it features an aggressive aerodynamics package that delivers 1,940 lbs (880 kg) of downforce at 155 mph (250 km/h). All in, it’s capable of hitting 62 mph in 2.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 227 mph (365 km/h).

Meanwhile, the Aurora Tur is designed more for the road than the track. However, it’s no slouch, despite looking less aggressive, thanks to the more slippery aero agenda and the addition of two more electric motors which give it a higher top speed compared to the Agil.

The two additional motors power the front wheels, delivering real torque vectoring for impressive cornering performance. In total, the powertrain delivers a monstrous 1,850 hp (1,380 kW/1,876 PS).

The extra power comes with a small weight penalty, meaning that the Aurora Tur tips the scales at 3,197 lbs (1,450 kg). However, it can reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.3 seconds and can go on to an impressive top speed of 280 mph (450 km/h). It also offers a little more comfort in the form of leather seats among other luxuries.

“We had to find different solutions out of necessity, and it was a clean sheet of paper to create what was the best drivers’ car without any restrictions,” said Jens Sverdrup, Zenvo’s chairman of the board. “With that brief, we looked at all the parameters we wanted to achieve, and set about pushing each element to its absolute maximum without any adverse effect on the others.”

Limited to just 50 examples each, Zenvo says that it will begin production of the Aurora in 2025, at its headquarters in Præstø, Denmark. No prices have been publicly revealed at this time.
