The first-gen Boxster (986) is one of the most affordable ways of becoming a member of the Porsche owner’s club with several cheap options in the used car market. However, the pictured example is as far from this as possible, with an asking price of €100,000 ($106,542) due to extensive visual and mechanical modifications that have transformed it into a track monster.
You don’t need to be an expert to understand that this is no ordinary Boxster due to the wider body, the extra aero components, and the omission of the roof and windshield. The new body panels are made of Kevlar and carbon fiber to keep the weight low. Highlights include a motorsports-inspired air intake, a generously-sized wing mounted on the rear bumper, and a custom bar for roll-over protection.

The cabin has been stripped of all the components deemed uncessecary for the track, with custom carbon-fiber replacement parts for the dashboard and center console, two racing buckets, motorsport switches, and an integrated roll cage. According to the listing on Mecanic Import, the tuned roadster tips the scales at 980 kg (2,161 lbs) making it significantly lighter than the stock Boxster 986 which weighted between 1,250 – 1,320 kg (2,756 – 2,910 lbs) depending on the variant.
The mid-mounted powertrain has been upgraded to a twin-turbo 3.6-liter flat six producing 617 hp (460 kW / 625 PS). This is more than double the power of the flagship Porsche Boxster S which was good for 254 hp (190 kW / 258 PS) in its most potent form. The chassis is visibly lowered, with the model riding on a new pair of center-lock 18-inch alloy wheels shod in slick tires. Larger disc brakes combine AP calipers up front and Brembos at the back with a Bosch ABS.
While the original listing doesn’t mention the price, a Facebook page called Unique Cars for Sale In Europe mentions the eye-watering figure of €100,000 ($106,542), which puts it right against a few pretty capable track cars. In any case, interested parties should know that this special Boxster is located in the city of Sint-Truiden in Belgium.
