Soon after pricing details for the 2024 Nissan Z Nismo leaked in both the United States and Canada, the EPA has published fuel consumption figures for the sports car. They show that it matches up nicely against the BMW M2 but is not as fuel efficient as the Toyota GR Supra.
EPA figures show that the Nissan Z Nismo gets 17 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg over the combined cycle. These are solid figures but obviously don’t quite match the regular Z with the nine-speed automatic transmission, rated at 19 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. However, they’re not far off the standard Z with the six-speed and its 18 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined.
How does the Nissan Z Nismo stack up against the competition? Well, the eight-speed auto BMW M2 returns 16 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined, virtually identical to the Nissan. However, the Toyota GR Supra with its available 3.0-liter six-cylinder and eight-speed automatic is significantly more efficient and capable of traveling 23 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined.

While the overall reception to the new-age Nissan Z has been lukewarm, the Nismo variant does appear quite compelling. In fact, its 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 is good for an impressive 420 hp and the revised styling doesn’t just make it look even better but also promises to improve aerodynamics.
However, the 2024 BMW M2 will likely tempt buyers away from the Nissan. Recent leaks suggest the Z Nismo will start at $64,990 plus a $1095 destination charge. If true, that would make it slightly pricier than the 2024 M2 starting at $63,200 plus $995 destination. The M2 also packs more grunt, with 453 hp, while also coming equipped with a far more refined and luxurious interior.
