The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser touched down in Germany, ahead of its market launch in Europe, as part of the 20th Bush Taxi Meeting. The new generation was exhibited alongside almost 1,200 other Toyota vehicles from 17 countries including all of its predecessors.
The 20th Bush Taxi Meeting, held in the German city of Ohrdruf, Thuringia on September 8-10, is considered the largest Land Cruiser meeting in the world. This year’s event attracted around 2,000 visitors, with the motto “Camp Fire is Home”.
The star of the show was a 2024 Land Cruiser First Edition which will be limited to 3,000 units in Europe, exclusively for customers that will reserve it during the pre-sales period starting October 2023. Highlights of the special edition include the round LED headlights and the bi-tone exterior combining a Sand body with a White roof (Smoky Blue / White is also available). The EU-Spec Land Cruiser will be initially available with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel producing 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS), mated to an 8-speed automatic. In 2025, Toyota will also offer a mild-hybrid diesel option featuring a 48-volt system.

Accompanying the new Series 250 were examples from all of its direct predecessors including the Series 150, 120, 90, and 70. Some of them were fitted with off-road accessories, while others were converted to campers. However, the exhibits were not limited to Land Cruisers, as many other AWD Toyota models like the Hilux, 4Runner, and FJ Cruiser were present in the show.
The program of the event also included films, lectures, Q&A sessions, tours, workshops, demonstrations, and campfires. Among the challenges was the “entanglement ramp” designed to test the flexibility of the participating vehicles’ ladder-frame chassis.
For those interested, the next Bush Taxi Meeting is scheduled for September 2024 in Ohrdruf Castle, likely attracting more examples of the new Toyota Land Cruiser Series 250.
