Prototypes of the Porsche 718 Boxster’s EV successor have been spotted on several occasions since late 2022, but the latest sighting was the first one to reveal its interior design. The fully electric roadster boasts a tech-rich dashboard, combining touch-sensitive displays with physical knobs and switches.
The dashboard of the next-gen Boxster sports a digital instrument cluster and a large infotainment touchscreen, similar to the upcoming Macan EV. Below the central display, we find aircraft-style switches, climate vents, and dual USB ports. The controls for the climate and seat heating/ventilation functions have been relocated to the inclined central tunnel offering a combination of touch-sensitive buttons and physical knobs. Finally, we can see the small drive selector in front of the auxiliary controls that could be replaced by a storage compartment in the production model.

Earlier scoops have revealed that the electric Porsche Boxster will have a boot and a frunk, something that will allow the Boxster to retain its practicality advantage over its rivals. We also know that the charging port is located on the rear bumper, making it easier to connect it to a wall box.
In typical Porsche fashion, the exterior design will be modern but familiar. Spy shots suggest that the model will have familiar proportions, albeit with modern styling features inspired by the Taycan. Due to its EV-only nature, the side intakes and exhaust pipes are expected to be omitted, resulting in a cleaner shape. Besides the soft-top Boxster, we expect a closely related fixed-top Cayman coupe to join the range.
While details on the specifications have not been shared with the public, the pictured prototype shows a remaining range of 125 km (78 miles) with the battery level at 53%. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the range figure at a full charge would be 235 km (146 miles), as the development prototype could have been driven really hard before the shoot affecting the estimates. After all, a Macan EV prototype revealed a similarly disappointing range figure in earlier sightings. According to the latest reports, the new Boxster could be offered with different battery capacities in both RWD and AWD forms.
The debut of the zero-emission roadster is expected in late 2024. Porsche’s CEO, Oliver Blume, has confirmed that the EV successors of the 718 line will go on sale in 2025. He also suggested that the models will initially be offered alongside their outgoing ICE-powered counterparts, at least for a few years.
