The all-electric Abarth 500e is heading to Australia later this year where it will be offered in Scorpionissima and Turismo guises.
Abarth will first sell the 500e in flagship Scorpionissima form. This version has been priced from AU$60,500 ($38,890) before on-road costs and will be capped at just 219 examples for the Australian market. Local shoppers will be able to order it in either Acid Green or Poison Blue complete with ‘Abarth’ decals on the side.
Arriving in early 2024 will be the Abarth 500e Turismo. This version will start at AU$58,900 ($37,861) and be available in Antidote White, Venom Black, Adrenaline Red, Acid Green and Poison Blue. Both the Turismo and Scorpionissima models rock the same powertrain.

This powertrain consists of a 42 kWh battery pack that drives a single electric motor with 113.7 kW (151 hp) and 235 Nm (173 lb-ft) of torque. These figures are roughly on par with combustion-powered versions of the previous-generation Abarth 500 and are enough to send the EV to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7 seconds. The warm electric hatch supports DC fast charging of up to 85 kW, meaning it can be charged from 0-80% at a DC fast charging station in as little as 35 minutes. Abarth says the 500e can travel up to 252 km (157 miles) on a single charge but we’ll have to see if that figure is actually achievable when we put the car to the test.
An interesting feature of the Abarth 500e is the ‘Abarth Sound Generator.’ This system comes standard on all models and aims to replicate the soundtrack delivered by Abarth’s ‘Record Monza’ exhaust offered on combustion-powered 500s.
