The Munich Motor Show continues as Audi has used the event to showcase the Activesphere concept, which is an electric pickup in disguise.
Originally introduced in January, the Activesphere is a four-door crossover coupe that embraces an Allroad aesthetic and sports chunky cladding as well as 22-inch wheels with active aerodynamics. The concept also has up to 9.8 inches (248 mm) of ground clearance and this helps to provide approach and departure angles of 18.9 and 28.1 degrees, respectively.
Besides the off-road focused design, the concept has suicide rear doors and a transparent Singleframe grille that allows onlookers to see into the frunk. That’s an odd touch, but the most interesting feature is the “active back” that enables the car to turn into a pickup in a matter of seconds.

At the touch of a button, the rear window slides up while the tailgate lowers. This provides easy access to a cargo bed, which is separated from the cabin via a motorized bulkhead that deploys from behind the rear seats when the concept is put into truck mode.
The minimalist interior has four individual seats, which are separated by a full-length center console. Displays are nowhere to be seen as they’re envisioned to be replaced by augmented reality headsets that look suspiciously like sunglasses.
The concept rides on the PPE platform and features 800V technology and a 100 kWh battery pack that promises to provide a range in excess of 373 miles (600 km). The concept is also said to have a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing 436 hp (325 kW / 442 PS) and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque. Furthermore, Audi envisions an “autonomous chauffeuring capability” that sees the “dashboard, steering wheel, and pedals disappear into an invisible position” when activated.
