BYD is not simply satisfied with being one of the largest car manufacturers in China and continues its global expansion, launching into new markets at a fast rate. Most recently, BYD has expanded its lineup in both Nepal and Colombia.
Nepalese residents will soon be able to pick up the keys to the car manufacturer’s all-electric Dolphin hatchback. Local prices start at 3.98 million Nepalese Rupees, roughly the equivalent of $30,000 in the U.S., a competitive price for what seems like one of the more compelling, entry-level EVs currently on sale.
BYD celebrated its launch in Nepal with an event in Kathmandu held in partnership with Cimex, its local authorized distributor. BYD has been selling vehicles in Nepal with Cimex since 2016 and already offers the Atto 3 and the e6. All Dolphin models available in the small nation come outfitted with the firm’s 44.9 kWh Blade battery providing the hatchback with a range of 340 km (211 miles) on the WLTP cycle.

Then there’s Colombia. While the South American nation remains a relatively small market for BYD, it has just launched the Seal there. BYD’s rival to the Tesla Model 3 has the potential to be its best-selling model and will be sold locally be the company’s partner, Motorysa. Colombia is currently home to seven BYD dealerships and a further five will open before the end of this year. The automaker has not confirmed how much the Seal will set back local shoppers.
