The Volkswagen ID. GTI concept attracted plenty of attention at the Munich Motor Show, but it wasn’t the only electric hatch on display. Quite the opposite as Cupra showcased the Raval concept, which previews an upcoming production model that will arrive in 2025.

Designed to appeal to a new generation of customers looking for something “urban, rebellious and 100% electric,” the Raval is named after a neighborhood in Barcelona and will be built in Martorell, Spain.

The model embraces an angular aesthetic and features triangular headlights as well as edgy air curtains. They’re joined by a sizable intake and what appears to be carbon fiber cladding.

The latter will undoubtedly be dropped for production, but we can expect the body to largely carryover and feature an attractive mix of soft curves and sharp lines. We also wouldn’t be surprised if the rear end is toned down as it sports a massive diffuser and an over-the-top spoiler.

The Raval is 158.7 inches (4,030 mm) long, which makes it 1.1 inches (29 mm) shorter than the Seat Ibiza. It rides on the MEB Small / Entry platform and has a front-mounted electric motor developing 223 hp (166 kW / 226 PS). The company has said this will enable the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.9 seconds and have a range of up to 273 miles (440 km).

Those numbers are virtually identical to the Volkswagen ID. 2all concept, which has 223 hp (166 kW / 226 PS) and measures 159.4 inches (4,050 mm) long. The VW can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than seven seconds, top out at 99 mph (160 km/h), and travel approximately 280 miles (450 km) in the WLTP cycle.
