Fisker is planning to increase production of the all-electric Ocean SUV as it looks to ramp up deliveries throughout North America.

The electric car startup revealed earlier this week that production of the Ocean should increase to roughly 300 units a day in the fourth quarter, a significant increase from the current 180 units being produced daily. Production of the Ocean is handled by parts supplier and contract manufacturer Magna International at its facility in Graz, Austria.

Speaking with Reuters, Henrik Fisker said that deliveries will accelerate across North America in September. He added that Magna has produced 3,123 vehicles and that a touch under 3,000 of them have been delivered to Fisker. Of these, more than 450 examples have been handed over to customers in the United States or will be shortly.

News of this boost in production comes just four weeks after Fisker acknowledged that it would likely produce 20,000 to 23,000 vehicles in 2023, significantly fewer than the 32,000 – 36,000 units it had projected back in May. Fisker blamed this reduction on the supplier of a complicated part that needs specific skilled labor to produce.

While the Ocean remains the only Fisker model currently in production, the car manufacturer unveiled three new models in August, consisting of an Alaska pickup truck, the Ronin flagship, and the entry-level Pear SUV. Of these, it is the Fisker Pear that has the potential to be the company’s biggest seller as it will hit the U.S. market with a starting price of just $29,900 before incentives.

The Pear is similar in size to the Tesla Model Y, albeit 200 m (7.8 inches) shorter. It will be offered with a choice between two battery packs with WLTP range figures of between 199 miles (320 km) and 348 miles (560 km).
