Ford will boost production of the hybrid version of the Ford F-150 throughout 2024 on the back of increased demand for the model.
Ford currently offers the F-150 with a hybrid powertrain as a $3,300 option. This model pairs a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with an electric motor to deliver a mighty 430 hp and 570 lb-ft (772 Nm) of torque. According to Ford Blue vice president Andrew Frick, demand for the hybrid model has jumped to 10% of total F-150 sales, and in 2024, the hybrid powertrain will become a no-cost option.
“We are building some upside into the production schedule,” Frick acknowledged, revealing the company is tooling up to equip as many as 20% of all F-150 models with the hybrid system.
Reuters notes that if Ford manages to sell as many F-150 hybrid models as it expects, the vehicle could become one of the three best-selling hybrids currently sold in the U.S. Toyota has already shown that there is plenty of demand for hybrid pickups, so much so that approximately 24% of all Tundra models sold in the U.S. this year through June 30 were hybrids.

While many car manufacturers are going all-in on electric powertrains, many analysts anticipate that sales of new hybrid vehicles will continue to jump too. In fact, S&P Global Mobility says that sales of hybrids will more than triple in the U.S. over the next five years and by 2028, could account for 24& of all new vehicle sales.
Ford recently lifted the veil on the 2024 F-150. The facelifted pickup may not look all that different from the model that it replaces but it does add some nifty new features like the Pro Access Tailgate that can swing open like a door and also fold down like a traditional tailgate. Pricing details for the 2024 F-150, including the Hybrid, have not yet been announced.
