Ford is launching a slew of new driving experiences aimed directly at new Mustang owners across the board. Included in the options are track days, autocross events, drifting training, and more. Here’s a quick breakdown of all the skills that Ford wants Mustang owners to know so that they’re less likely to crash.

Everyone who buys a new seventh-generation Mustang is going to get access to what it calls immersive driving experiences. In addition, Ford is creating an online Mustang portal of its own where owners can share experiences. Finally, owners are welcome to enter events that will ‘crisscross’ the nation.

“The Ford Mustang is all about two things: its community of passionate fans and racing. We’re combining those qualities and giving owners the opportunity to learn some of the same skills our racing drivers will take to Daytona and Le Mans next year,” said Matt Simpson, general manager for Enthusiast Vehicles. “And they’ll do so alongside their fellow enthusiasts.”

The flagship event of the group is the Dark Horse Track Attack, held exclusively at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Dark Horse owners will need to pay for their own travel and lodging but once there they’ll enjoy an entire day of learning how to get the most out of their pony cars. As mentioned above, this isn’t limited simply to those who pay the very most for Dark Horse trim levels.

Mustang EcoBoost and GT owners also get access to classes at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Their experience differs a bit though as they’ll need to choose from a menu what they’ll engage in. Options include line-lock burnout classes, drift instruction, track driving, and more.

“Ford Mustang fans make this car what it is – a global icon for performance and excitement. And now, we’re giving owners a chance to connect regardless of distance and share their passion,” Mustang Brand Manager Joe Bellino said. Interestingly, Ford says nothing of what special perks related to these events that Mustang GTD owners might be eligible for.
