They just can’t help themselves. Mustang drivers love living up to everyone’s worst expectations. Case in point: photos of a next-generation 2024 model whose driver lost the rear end and crashed into a median strip have already ended up online.
Deliveries of the 2024 Ford Mustang started in mid-August, meaning that this example can only have been on the road for a maximum of a few weeks. And yet, here it, in a picture posted to Reddit’s r/Mustang, off the road.
Or, at least, half off, half on, having apparently come to a stop on a median strip in the middle of what looks like a very residential street. More alarming still, based on the other cars in the background, it appears to be facing the wrong way.

Since there is no damage to speak of on the grass, the passenger side airbag has blown, and the rear, passenger-side wheel looks out of place, I would guess that the driver looped their Mustang, slammed into the curb in the middle of the road, and popped up onto the median.
All of this appears to have happened outside a low building with a “Be Kind” banner on it, which suggests to me that it’s either a church or an elementary school—though I admit I’m leaping to even more conclusions with that guess.
Wherever this accident happened, it must surely be one of the first recorded instances of Mustangitis for the S650 model. It will be interesting to see if it ends up on an auction site for totaled vehicles, as there must surely be a few tuners in the market for a cheap 2024 Mustang to hack up.
While Ford fans will surely be disappointed to discover that their reputation for heavy feet and loose rear ends will follow them into the vehicle’s next generation, they can at least take solace in the fact that the car truly still is a Mustang.
