Production of the MG Cyberster has just started in China with the first examples reaching Chinese dealerships before local pre-sales start on September 26. The new model will serve as the flagship in MG’s model range and could prove to be a strong seller in the emerging electric sports car market.
Images recently shared to X by Tycho de Feijter show over a dozen Cyberster models lined up and ready to hit the road. One of the photos also shows an MG employee checking some of the final design tolerances while a third photo shows a handful of Cyberster models being loaded onto trucks and heading to dealerships.
The MG Cyberster has the potential to be a runaway success. Not only does it look attractive but prices in China are expected to start at the equivalent of about $41,000. That makes it reasonably affordable and competitively priced to more conventional combustion-powered sports cars offering similar levels of performance.

A handful of configurations are expected, all of which will be underpinned by a 70 kWh battery pack. The entry-level model will come outfitted with an electric motor at the rear axle producing 310 hp while a slightly more powerful version with 335 hp will also be offered. For those seeking even more performance, MG will also sell the Cyberster in dual-motor guise, fitted with a 201 hp motor at the front axle and a 335 hp motor at the rear axle, making for a combined 536 hp and 535 lb-ft (727 Nm) of torque, enough to send it to 60 mph (96 km/h) in around 3 seconds.
Range figures have not been made official but it is claimed the MG Cyberster will be good for between 501 km (311 miles) and 580 km (360 miles) of range on a charge, depending on the configuration.
