Lotus is said to be actively developing an estate version of the all-electric Emeya and it could act as the perfect alternative to the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo. It would also give Lotus customers more choice should the standard Emeya sedan or the Eletre SUV not appeal to them.
Producing and selling an estate version of the Emeya would make a lot of sense. Given that it would share most of its components with the sedan, it would be far cheaper to develop than an all-new model and would no doubt boost Emeya sales. The car manufacturer remains tight-lipped on whether such a model is on the cards but that hasn’t stopped us from imagining what it may look like.
“Let’s just say I know a lot of creative people that these kinds of products appeal to,” Lotus design chief Ben Payne told Autocar when asked about an Emeya estate. “The design team is always looking at the next opportunity and how we can do something a bit different and get more [opportunities]. Is it in the product plan? I can’t comment on that.”
Lotus commercial boss Mike Johnstone made similar comments, noting that “new market segments appear and new technologies come into play that mean we would do things in a different way. We’re always looking for new opportunities.”

Were an Emeya estate to reach the light of day, it would be underpinned by the same Electric Premium Architecture as the sedan and the Eletre. The sedan then uses a 102 kWh battery pack that would also be shared with the estate and in its most potent guise, delivers 905 hp and 726 lb-ft (984 Nm) of torque. No range figure has been published for the Emeya but range-focused versions should be good for around 373 miles (600 km) while the 905 hp version will have a range nearer the 304-mile (489 miles) mark.
The design of the Emeya lends itself quite well to an estate. By stretching the sedan’s roofline, Lotus could easily build an EV that doesn’t just perform the part but also looks superb. Sounds like a win-win to us.
