The road-going Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 RS are amazing cars but for those seeking the ultimate in track performance from a 911, it is impossible to go past a legitimate GT3 that was built specifically for racing. Like this one, for example.
This particular 911 is a 2008 GT3 RSR and although it is 15 years old, it is particularly special because it has never been raced. In fact, it has only ever been driven 20 km (12.4 miles) and all of that was covered during pre-delivery testing at Wiessach. This means that if you have between $750,000 and $850,000 (the price the car is expected to sell for), you could get your hands on a legitimate race car that’s been never used.
Porsche first unveiled the 997-generation-based 911 GT3 RSR in 2006 before updating it in 2008. Various upgrades were made to the 2008 model, such as adding canards to the front bumper and other aerodynamic alterations that increased downforce while also reducing drag. Powering the car is a 3.8-liter naturally-aspirated flat-six churning out 485 hp and spinning all the way to 9,000 rpm. Mated to this engine is a six-speed sequential transmission driving the rear wheels.

RM Sotheby’s will sell the car later this week at an auction in St. Moritz, Switzerland. The listing reveals that it is chassis 799943 and that it is painted in Carrera White. It was originally delivered to Widberg Motorsport on April 24, 2008, but never hit the track. It is being sold with an Automobile Club de l’Ouest LM GT2 technical passport, DMSB roll cage certification, and an FIA GT2 homologation form from 2007.
