There aren’t many mainstream plug-in hybrid crossovers on the market, but the Toyota RAV4 Prime is returning for 2024 with a base price of $43,440.

Costing $350 more than its predecessor, the eco-friendly crossover appears to carryover untouched. It will arrive at U.S. dealerships later this year in “limited quantities.”

While there isn’t much to report, the entry-level RAV4 Prime SE features black accents, a dual exhaust system, and 18-inch wheels with a two-tone finish. Buyers will also find a leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated front seats with eight-way power adjustment on the driver’s side. They’re joined by red contrast stitching, a six-speaker audio system, a 7-inch multi-information display, and an 8-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia system.

Customers looking for more luxury can opt for a $1,665 Weather & Moonroof Package, which adds a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and rain-sensing wipers with a de-icer function.

If that isn’t fancy enough, the RAV4 Prime XSE can be had for $47,310. It’s distinguished by vertical LED lights, larger 19-inch wheels, and red-painted shock absorbers. The model also offers a two-tone exterior that sees a black roof combined with a contrasting body color.

The upgrades continue in the cabin as fabric is replaced by SofTex upholstery. Buyers will also find a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a larger 10.5-inch infotainment system, and an 11-speaker JBL audio system with a subwoofer. Other highlights include an ambient lighting system, a wireless smartphone charger, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink. Customers can also get packages that add heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a panoramic moonroof – among other things.

The Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite of driver assistance system comes standard and includes Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. Other niceties include Automatic High Beams, Road Sign Assist, Rear Seat Reminder, and a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

Under the hood, there’s a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, and an 18.1 kWh battery pack. This setup gives the all-wheel drive crossover a combined output of 302 hp (225 kW / 306 PS), which enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds and travel 42 miles (68 km) on electricity alone.
