This glorious V8-powered Range Rover Classic is dubbed ‘Project Stinky’ by its builder and while its name leaves a little to be desired, it is one of the finer Range Rover restomods that we’ve come across.
The company behind this creation is ECD Automotive Design. It immediately stands out thanks to an Arles Blue paint scheme across most of the body, except for the roof which is painted in Norvik Black. Complementing the black roof is a set of 18-inch gloss black wheels from Kahn that have been wrapped in Continental tires. For as nice as the exterior is, it is under the hood and in the cabin where the most thorough changes have been made.
Let’s start with the engine, shall we? Driving the Range Rover Classic is a brand new V8 coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels. EDC Auto Design has also fitted upgraded axles at the front and rear while also boosting the suspension and installing a new set of brakes. The restomod experts haven’t revealed how much power the SUV now has but we suspect it is more than adequate.

Then we have the interior. Adorning much of the cabin is Savannah Beige full grain Nappa leather and the front seats are heated. Additionally, EDC has installed a modern Sony infotainment system that works alongside new speakers from Infinity and a JL Audio subwoofer. There are also three USB ports, Wi-Fi, a reversing camera, remote start, and Bluetooth. A wireless smartphone charger has also been fitted to the top of the center console, although there’s no chance it’ll actually hold a phone in place while driving.
“At ECD, there’s nothing we love more than working with our clients to design the ideal vehicle for their needs and achieving performance the original Range Rover Classics could only dream of,” ECD Auto Design chief executive and co-founder Scott Wallace said while speaking about the firm’s latest creation. “Project Stinky has all the hallmarks of the 1990s British Range Rover Classics, yet our craftsmen’s touches take it to another level of class and capability.”
