Camping conversions are becoming increasingly popular these days, attracting the attention of more automakers, including those in the premium corner of the market. Genesis presented the Camping Gear Black Edition in Korea, in collaboration with popular suppliers of camping gear, including a rooftop tent that is compatible with the pictured GV70 and the GV80 flagship, but not with the recently revealed GV80 Coupe and the automaker’s low-slung models.

According to Genesis, the retractable rooftop tent from iKamper takes only 1 minute to fold/unfold. It can sleep up to 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children with a weight allowance of 300 kg (661 lbs). The black tent with Genesis branding has a comfortable mattress, windows, mounting rails, and storage pockets. It uses eco-friendly water-repellent and UV-blocking fabric, with a strong aluminum honeycomb floor and a hard shell made of fiber-reinforced plastic. It can be mounted on aerodynamically-optimized Thule Cross Bars and is accessible via a ladder.

Next up are the black camping chairs and matching table, made by Helinox. Those pieces are based on lightweight and sturdy aluminum frames and feature reflective Genesis logos. The chairs have pockets on both sides and are compatible with optional inflatable headrests for extra comfort. In terms of weight, each chair can hold up to 145kg (320 lbs), and the table is good for 50kg (110 lbs).

Genesis said that the Camping Gear Black Edition is aimed not only at its customers who already enjoy camping but also at those who prefer staying in hotels in order to avoid the lengthy preparation process.

The company showcased the aforementioned accessories on an off-road-prepped GV70 featuring fender extensions, skid plates, extra LED lights on the front bumper, and a new set of beadlock wheels shod in grippy all-terrain tires.

Besides the Camping Gear Black Edition collection, the company revealed plans to offer additional accessories in the future, including “exclusive outdoor products and wheel designs” expanding the customization options for owners of Genesis vehicles.

The accessories are already available on the official Genesis Boutique website in Korea, with other markets expected to follow in the future. If you’re wondering about the cost, you’ll need ₩4,400,000 ($3,275) for the iKamper rooftop tent and Thule Cross Bars, ₩180,000 ($134) for the Helinox camping table, ₩180,000 ($134) for each Helinox camping chair and an extra ₩43,000 ($32) for each pillow/headrest.
