Kia announced it will premier two new fully electric concepts at this year’s EV Day event, where it will also reveal the detailed specs of the EV5 compact SUV and give us more information about its future plans. The Korean automaker published a couple of shadowy photo and video teasers showing its EV lineup that will soon be expanded with “three new small- to medium-sized electric models”.
A closer look at the photo teaser reveals that the first model from the left is the existing Kia EV6 GT. Next to it, there is a low-slung coupe-sedan with crossover styling cues and vertical LEDs at the front, which is one of the new concepts previewing future production models. In the middle, we can see the silhouette and lighting signature of the new EV5 compact SUV, next to what looks like the upcoming EV4 sub-compact SUV, and the EV9 flagship.

According to the press release, Kia will also announce the detailed specifications of the all-new EV5 following its debut in production form at the Chengdu Motor Show in China last August. We already know that the electric alternative to the Sportage measures 4,615 mm (181.7 inches) long and rides on the E-GMP architecture. Its specification may vary depending on the region, but the Chinese-spec version is expected to be available with a front-mounted electric motor producing 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) and sourcing energy from BYD’s Blade lithium iron phosphate battery pack.
The annual Kia EV Day event will take place in Yeoju, Korea on October 12, when we will learn everything about the upcoming models.
