The American division of British exhaust manufacturer Milltek Sport has just launched a potent exhaust system for the C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that doesn’t just look good but also adds to the V8 soundtrack and saves a significant amount of weight.

The exhaust is made from T304L aircraft-grade stainless steel and is fully TIG welded throughout. Milltek notes that it has been brought to life through a collaboration between its British and American facilities and that customers can choose to have it fitted with tip finishes in polished stainless, Cerakote satin black, brushed titanium, burnt/blue titanium, or carbon fiber.

As a direct plug-and-play replacement, the system works with the factory valve control system meaning the sound output will vary depending on the driving mode. The exhaust has been priced from a reasonable $3,471 but that price increases to $3,851 should a customer opt for the brushed titanium tips.

Milltek conducted final testing of the exhaust at its location in Tennessee before taking an all-black prototype to the Tail of the Dragon to unleash the 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8. While it’s always hard to accurately capture the sound of an exhaust on video, it certainly seems louder than the standard exhaust while still retaining that beloved Chevy V8 growl.

The company has not said if the exhaust adds any extra horses or torque to the engine but does note that it weighs 39 lbs (17.6 kg) less than the standard exhaust. It also results in better flow.

Plenty of other companies also offer exhaust packages for the C8 Corvette. These include two different kits from Borla and last week, Lingenfelter unveiled its new exhaust system for the flagship C8 Corvette Z06.
