Lexus is placing a strong emphasis on SUVs at this year’s SEMA gathering in Las Vegas, showcasing several examples of the GX and a modified LX at its stand. These off-road-focused builds are designed to highlight the capabilities of Lexus’s ladder-frame SUVs and feature products from the Lexus Associated Accessory Product (AAP) range.
The highlight of the show will be the all-new 2024 Lexus GX, a sister model to the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser (series 250). It will be joined by five different examples from various generations. In chronological order, these include owner builds such as a 2008 Lexus GX470, a 2009 Lexus GX470, and a 2010 Lexus GX460, leading up to the official models. The latter comprise AAP Builds based on the previous-generation 2022 Lexus GX 460 Premium and the all-new 2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail+.

2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail+ AAP Build
The newcomer will certainly draw the most attention from SEMA visitors as it is based on the top-spec GX 550 Overtrail+ trim. Under the hood lies the stock twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 that produces 349 hp (354 PS / 260 kW). Lexus kept the standard 18-inch wheels shod in 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T tires, but added an on-board tire compressor, as well as rock rails for better protection together with the standard aluminum skid plate.
More importantly, Prinsu’s roof rack, rear window accessory panels, and ladder are combined with Pelican’s BX90R and BX55S cargo cases, enhancing the SUV’s practicality for off-road adventures. The gear includes a set of rotoPax containers mounted on the sides, a DMOS Delta Shovel, and ARB TRED Pro recovery boards, which can be helpful when navigating challenging terrains.
2022 Lexus GX 460 Premium AAP Build
The previous generation of the Lexus GX also received some love at this year’s SEMA Show with a host of accessories. The 2022 Lexus GX 460 Premium, shown above, is wrapped in a striking Matte Yellow Saffron color and equipped with 18-inch wheels wrapped in 34-inch Toyo Open Country A/T tires. The SUV’s underbody protection has been improved with skid plates and CBI Offroad rock sliders. Under the hood, the stock 4.6-liter V8 engine still produces 301 hp (221 kW / 305 PS).
Camping enthusiasts will appreciate the inclusion of the 10-foot Kammok Roo Double Hammock, which can be conveniently stored on the Prinsu Roof Rack alongside its stand. The SUV is equipped with a weatherproof fridge and freezer system by ARB in the rear to ensure that food and beverages remain well-preserved during outdoor adventures. Additional equipment includes an ARB 12V Portable Air Compressor, a Weekender Recovery Kit, and a set of TRED Pro recovery boards.
2022 Lexus LX 600 Premium AAP Build
The only non-GX member of the Lexus lineup at SEMA is the 2022 Lexus LX 600 Premium AAP Build pictured above. The large SUV stands out from the crowd thanks to the custom Aquamarine body wrap, contrasting the matte gray grille, matching 18-inch alloy wheels shod in 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T tires, and shiny black accents all around the bodywork. As with all Lexus LX 600 models, the AAP build comes fitted with the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 producing 409 hp (305 kW / 415 PS).
The retractable Kammok Crosswing Car Awning on the side will provide protection from the sun and the rain, with a Yakima Exo OpenRange Deluxe camp kitchen bundle allowing users to prepare meals while being out in the open. Finally, the Prinsu Roof Rack with a Yakima SupDawg attachment can hold paddleboards and surfboards for extra fun if you live near the water.
