Nissan revealed its second fully electric SUV concept for the Japan Mobility Show 2023, which is called Hyper Adventure. The digital-only concept was designed for those who enjoy “outdoor adventures and an eco-friendly lifestyle”, and looks like an electric Qashqai from the distant future.
The exterior of the Hyper Adventure adopts an evolved version of Nissan’s styling language. The sculpted front end does without the V-motion grille and features rather complex LED headlights. The bumpers, side skirts, and futuristic alloy wheels have “crampons” inspired by mountaineering boots, while the glass roof merges with the side windows for better aerodynamics. We can also see a digital panel on the base of the windshield for displaying various messages.

The conventional doors at the front are combined with gullwing rear doors providing easy access to the cabin thanks to the lack of B-pillars. The highlight of the concept is the rear bench that rotates by 180 degrees, converting the boot into a seating area. This, alongside the large tailgate and the automatically retractable steps, makes for a great place to enjoy scenic views, or put on / take off your hiking gear.
The interior looks more futuristic than the exterior, with a widescreen covering most of the dashboard and a head-up display. The yoke steering wheel folds and hides away when the vehicle is in autonomous mode. Extensive use of ambient lighting highlights the materials used for the upholstery which are combined with straps on the base of the seats. According to Nissan, the Hyper Adventure has enough space to carry outdoor equipment like tents, skis, or a kayak.
The automaker didn’t announce the specifications of the concept but said that the “large-capacity battery doubles as an energy source, allowing users to power up their gadgets, light up campsites, or even recharge their electric jet skis”. Thanks to the V2X (vehicle-to-everything) technology, the vehicle’s battery can power homes (V2H), or contribute to the grid (V2G). As for the electric motors, the concept was envisioned with Nissan’s e-4ORCE all-wheel-control system, similar to the one used by the production Ariya.
The Hyper Adventure will be on digital display at the Japan Mobility Show 2023, alongside the Hyper Urban and possibly other EV concepts by Nissan. While the model is clearly not intended for production, we wouldn’t be surprised if the next-gen Qashqai adopts some of its styling features. Still, this model is years away as the current generation of the compact SUV will be getting a facelift soon.
