The Rebelle Rally wrapped up over the weekend and a Rivian R1T made history as the first “fully electric vehicle to win the rally.”
The electric pickup was driven by a team consisting of Lilly Macaruso and Alex Anderson. They racked up a total of 1,395 points in the 4×4 Class, which bested second place finishers Nena Barlow and Teralin Petereit, who were driving a 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe.
Anderson and Macaruso are both Rivian employees, but they’re no stranger to the Rebelle Rally as they entered the competition last year. They took fourth place in 2022 and were crowned Rookies of the Year, which foreshadowed their triumph this time around.

A customer team, consisting of Mandy Brezina and Alex Gilman, also competed in the rally and they finished in 11th place. Two other teams also used a Rivian R1T and they came in 20th and 30th place in the 4×4 Class.
The Rebelle Rally has exploded in popularity over the past few years and it’s currently the longest off-road rally in the United States as it spans over 1,553 miles (2,500 km). Besides forcing competitors to deal with rough terrain for over a week, GPS is strictly forbidden. As a result, teams have to rely on old school paper maps and compasses.
The rally is billed as the “ultimate road trip for the adventurous and competitive woman,” and Rivian has been competing in the event since 2020.
