Just a couple of months after the facelifted 2024 Hyundai Sonata launched in the United States, it has now arrived in Australia where it will be sold exclusively in N Line configuration.

Hyundai first showcased the 2024 Sonata in March as an update to the eighth-generation model. Significant changes have been made to the exterior design and this is no more obvious than the front end where the oddly-shaped headlights and DRLs have been replaced by a simple LED light bar and separate headlamps incorporated into the air intakes. It’s an altogether more modern and less offensive design.

Other significant changes have been made to the facelifted Sonata N Line. For example, it comes with new 19-inch alloy wheels, has bold new LED taillights, and will be offered in six colors; Serenity White, Biophillic Ink, Abyss Black, Nocturne Grey, Ultimate Red, and Aero Silver Matte.

Review: The Hyundai Sonata N Line Is Bold And Unapologetic

Hyundai also went above and beyond most mid-life facelifts for the cabin of the 2024 Sonata. The most significant upgrade is the fitment of a single curved panoramic display housing the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the 12.3-inch infotainment display. The shifter has also been relocated to the steering column and there is a new steering wheel. Hyundai has also revised the car’s ambient lighting system and will sell the N Line exclusively with Nappa leather-appointed seats with red contrast stitching.

Continuing to power the Sonata N Line is a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 213 kW (286 hp) and 422 Nm (311 lb-ft) of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels but unfortunately, there is still no limited-slip differential. This means the new model will probably be prone to doing single-wheel burnouts on aggressive launches like the pre-facelift car.

Hyundai has equipped the 2024 Sonata with over-the-air software update capabilities and all Australian-delivered models come standard with Hyundai BlueLink connected car services.

Local prices start at AU$55,500 ($35,191) and the only available options are AU$595 ($377) Metallic / Mica premium paint or AU$1,000 ($634) Matte premium paint.
