One attendee at the Petersen Automotive Museum’s upcoming annual gala will be able to skip the long waiting list for the Tesla Cybertruck and purchase a low-VIN 2024 example.
The annual gala, being held on October 7 this year at the world-famous museum in Los Angeles, will include an auction for a 2024 Cybertruck. Given that production of customer cars has not yet commenced, it is highly unlikely that the winning bidder will actually take delivery of the truck on the night but as it is a low-VIN example, they may not have to wait for all that long before they can add the electric truck to their garage.

It is unclear how the Petersen Automotive Museum has secured an allocation for a low-VIN Cybertruck, especially considering that Tesla has apparently received more than 2 million deposits for it. In all likelihood, the museum itself, or someone working for the museum, placed a deposit when the Cybertruck was first unveiled in November 2019.
There is no mention about what version of the Cybertruck is on offer. Will it be the entry-level version expected to have a single motor driving the rear wheels and offering around 250 miles (400 km) of range or could it be the flagship quad-motor version with an estimated 620 miles (1,000 km) of range, or perhaps one of the mid-range models? It’s not yet clear but regardless, we suspect a wealthy individual attending the event will be willing to pay a significant premium for it.
Buying a single seat at the gala costs an eye-watering $1,750 and those wanting to buy a standard table will need to cough up $17,500. A Premier table is also available for a cool $30,000.
