If you need a car and don’t have one, there are countless options including friends, family, Lyft, and Uber. However, if you’re morally flexible, there are a few more alternatives.
20-year-old Kasia Shelton allegedly went the latter route as authorities say she stole a 2013 Kia Optima to drive to an interview about becoming a stripper.
Citing court documents, Fox 59 is reporting that Shelton went to RDI Motors on Monday to inquire about the aforementioned Kia. An employee told her to wait while they answered the phone, which had been ‘ringing off the hook.’

No one was on the other end of the call and the employee found Shelton as well as the car missing. Police were called and they reportedly used cameras to track the car as it traveled to Indianapolis and then back to Muncie.
Authorities weren’t able to immediately catch up to the Kia, but they connected Shelton to the crime as she allegedly entered her information on the dealership’s website. That’s a boneheaded move and police said Shelton eventually admitted to stealing the car after being confronted and allegedly lying about her identity.
This is where things take a crazy turn as the station wrote, “Shelton reportedly told police she stole the Kia in order to drive to Indianapolis for an exotic dancer job interview. She didn’t understand what the big deal was, however, since she ‘returned’ the vehicle later.”
“Returned” is being generous as Shelton reportedly abandoned the car at the Muncie Mall, which is located behind RDI Motors. However, the vehicle was discovered in Anderson, which is roughly 20 miles (32 km) away.
How this happened remains unclear, but Shelton said she left the keys in the car and saw it being driven by someone else on Snapchat. That seems pretty questionable and she’s now facing charges of auto theft and identity deception.
