The story of the Brawn GP Formula One team always seemed fit for a documentary and on November 15, Hulu will release a four-part series detailing the company’s rise from nothing to a race- and championship-winning outfit.
The documentary is hosted by Keanu Reeves and will include interviews with key members of the Brawn team, including owner Ross Brawn as well as drives Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello. A newly-released trailer by Hulu shows that current Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner plays an important role in the documentary, fitting given it was the RBR team that gave Brawn a run for its money in the second half of the season. Ex-Ferrari supremo Luca di Montezemolo is also featured as is Bernie Ecclestone.

Brawn competed in just a single F1 season yet its legacy is unlike any other. The team came to life just before the start of the 2009 championship after Honda revealed it would withdraw from the sport. The newly-formed team quickly secured an engine supply deal with Mercedes-Benz and at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, immediately proved themselves to have exceptional speed. In fact, Jenson Button would go on to secure pole position and the race win, followed by Barrichello in second place. It was the first and only time in Formula One history that a debuting team won its first race.
A key reason why the BGP 001 proved to be so fast is that the Honda team had spent much of the 2008 season developing it before their untimely exit from the sport. It made particularly good use of a double diffuser design and the team went on to win eight of the season’s 17 races with Button taking out six of the first seven races.
