Dodge is building just 3,300 examples of the Challenger SRT Demon 170 and while the $96,666 MSRP is reasonable, finding one without having to wait for months is almost impossible. Purchasing an SRT Demon 170 at auction could be a good but expensive option.
Mecum Auctions has listed a virtually brand-new 2023 model up for sale at its Las Vegas event running between November 9-11. While it has not mentioned how much it expects the car to sell for, we would not be surprised if it fetches well in excess of $150,000 and it could even go for double its original sticker price.

The listing reveals that this SRT Demon 170 is no 1153 of the 3,300 units heading to production. Like all other examples, it is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 churning out 1,025 hp and 945 lb-ft (1,280 Nm) of torque while running on E85 or 900 hp and 810 lb-ft (1,097 Nm) with E10. Lined up on a drag strip, it can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in a phenomenal 1.66 seconds and run the quarter-mile in 8.91 seconds at 151.17 mph (243.28 km/h).
There’s no reason listed as to why the Dodge’s original owner is parting ways with the car but Mecum notes it has been driven just 18 miles (29 km), so it still needs to be run-in. While the red probably won’t be to everyone’s taste, the exterior is somewhat toned down by the matte black hood and rear lip spoiler. The forged 18×8 front and 17×11 rear aluminum wheels finished in black are also surprisingly subtle and sit over black-painted brake calipers.
The cabin isn’t particularly flashing but does have an 8.4-inch infotainment display, a suede headliner, plenty of carbon fiber accents, and perhaps most impressively, an 18-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system with a GreenEdge amplifier.
