Less than five months after being unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, production of the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster has started at the car manufacturer’s production facility in Hambach, France.

The Grenadier Quartermaster is based on the standard model but has been modified into a pickup truck. It gets its name from the senior military officer who is tasked with the supply and distribution of provisions and according to Ineos, the Quartermaster is just as capable in rugged, testing conditions as the regular Grenadier but has the added benefit of additional load-carrying capacity.

Customer deliveries of the new model will start in Europe next month while shipments to the Asia Pacific region, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East will commence soon after. North American sales will kick off in early 2024.

“The start of production for our second model line is another extremely exciting and important milestone for INEOS Automotive,” Ineos chief executive Lynn Calder described. “As part of the final sign-off process, I drove a late prototype in both Spain and the African bush and it’s unbeatable off-road, combining the rugged capability and refined performance of the Station Wagon with the enormous load bay that can carry a huge amount of kit and cargo. It’s a great addition to our model line-up.”

The Grenadier Quartermaster rides on an extended 3,227 mm (127-inch) wheelbase, a considerable 305 mm (12 inches) longer than the normal model. It has a load-carrying capacity of 1,676 lbs (760 kg) and is rated at the same 7,716 lbs (3,500 kg) of towing capacity as the regular 4×4. The bed is also large enough to easily carry a standard 1,200 mm x 800 mm (47.2 in / 31.4 in) Euro pallet with ease. Ineos will also start building a chassis cab version next year aimed specifically at conversion specialists and commercial body-builders.

Customers can choose to have the Quartermaster fitted with either a 3.0-liter BMW petrol engine or a 3.0-liter BMW diesel engine. The petrol model is good for 282 hp and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque while the diesel is rated at 245 hp and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque.
