Stealing cars is a perilous hobby with serious consequences, especially for repeat offenders. A 17-year-old learned this the hard way when he was caught stealing a car from the Burdick Lexus dealer in New York state, and now the DA’s office has offered him a 10-year prison sentence deal
According to the Cicero Police and the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, the teen was identified as a member of a group who stole three cars from two different dealers on the night of August 22. The group of six teenagers allegedly stole a Dodge Challenger and Jeep Grand Wagoneer from Burdick Dodge, in addition to a Lexus RC from Burdick Lexus. The police recovered all three vehicles miles away, shortly after they were reported stolen.
CCTV footage from Burdick Lexus, shared by the Cicero Police Department, depicts the black 2023 Lexus RC350 being driven through the dealer’s front windows at 3:36 AM on August 22. The car had its windows and sunroof open, which suggests that some of the shattered glass most likely ended up inside the cabin.

To make matters worse, the suspect is accused of breaking into several dealerships and stealing a total of six vehicles between August 12-23, which will likely translate into a lengthy sentence. Onondaga County Assistant District Attorney John Walker said that several of the stolen cars were recovered from the suspect’s street, and car keys were found in his home. In total, it is estimated that the burglaries caused $100,000-250,000 of property damage.
In court, the prosecutors revealed that, in addition to the Burdick Lexus incident, the suspect had broken into a pizza shop, a mini-market, and five other car dealerships. Reportedly, all of these incidents occurred when the suspect was visiting his home after being released from a youth detention facility.
As reported by Bimhamton News, the 17 year old faces a prison sentence between 14-36 years and 44-105 years for his 24-count indictment. As for his 10-year deal for the Lexus incident, he can accept or deny it until December 6.
