Way back in January, Vanwall unveiled the Vandervell S, an all-electric hatchback with some impressive performance targets. Today, we’re finally hearing more about the car, as the company revealed that it will make more power than previously advertised, and that it will be offered in six colors.
As an ode to its racing history, the first color available for the Vandervell S will be Vanwall Racing Green. In addition, the hot hatch will be available in blue, red, black, white, and dark gray. As a final touch, buyers will also be able to pick between a matte and glossy paint finish.
For those who need a quick refresher, the Vandervell S is a four-door hatchback, but don’t let the practical body fool you, it’s being designed to drive like a racecar for the road. For instance, a carbon fiber body means that the production car will weigh 3,968 lbs (1,800 kg).

That’s a good curb weight considering the 84 kWh battery that powers it, and the motors connected to the pack will give it an impressive power-to-weight ratio. The standard model gets all-wheel-drive and a solid 320 hp (239 kW/325 PS). Meanwhile, the company now says that the Vandervell S Plus will make up to 641 hp (478 kW/650 PS), not 580 (432 kW/588 PS) as it previously estimated.
Vanwall says that the car will be more than just a spec sheet special, though. The brand has been revived by Dr. Colin Kolles, who previously worked in leadership positions for Formula One teams like Force India, Caterham, and Jordan Grand Prix.
The brand also says that knowledge gained from its World Endurance Championship racing team, and its Vandervell 1000 Hypercar, are utilized in the Vandervell S. Vanwall used advanced aerodynamic technology to shape the body, and says that it will have impressive launch control and regenerative braking technology.
Limited to just 500 examples, and made of exotic materials, the Vandervell S will have an appropriately lofty starting price of €128,000 ($135,759 USD at current exchange rates). Vanwall says it is taking a direct sales approach to ensure that the car will be on the road in the first quarter of 2024.
