Toyota is steadily broadening its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio across various regions worldwide, including China, where it will introduce several exclusive models. At the 2023 Guangzhou Auto Show last week, the joint venture between Toyota and China’s state-owned Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) showcased two concept models, including a stylish sedan.
The Chinese name of the model translates to “Comfortable Space,” and it was unveiled in prototype form, offering a preview of an upcoming production model anticipated to arrive in 2025. The electric vehicle will be manufactured locally through the GAC Toyota joint venture and is expected to be exclusively available in the Chinese market.

The exterior design of the “Comfortable Space” bears a resemblance to the bZ Sport Crossover Concept, which was unveiled earlier this year. However, the latter be manufactured by another joint venture in China, between FAW and Toyota. Predictably, the latest study features the distinctive hammerhead front fascia with slim interconnected LEDs and sharp surfacing along the profile. The coupe-style roofline extends nearly to the edge of the tailgate, giving it a sleek appearance. The absence of traditional door handles and the use of mirror-replacing cameras contribute to its aerodynamic stance, further enhanced by the “air curtain” intakes on the front and rear bumpers.
As reported by Tycho de Feijter on X, formely Twitter, the electric sedan has a length of around 5 meters (196.8 inches) and a wheelbase of 3 meters (118.1 inches). If these measurements are accurate, it could potentially compete with electric sedans such as the Nio ET7, Geely Galaxy E8, and Luxeed S7, depending on pricing and specifications.
In addition to the sedan, GAC Toyota also showcased an electric SUV at the 2023 Guangzhou Auto Show. Named “Enjoyable Space,” it looks identical to the bZ FlexSpace Concept unveiled in April 2023 and is anticipated to commence production in 2024. This family-oriented SUV is reported to have a length of 4.8 meters (189 inches) and a wheelbase of 2.9 meters (114.2 inches), making it slightly longer than a Tesla Model Y. According to Chinese sources, it will be available in both single and dual electric motor configurations, with prices starting at ¥250,000 ($35,000).
The production versions of the “Comfortable Space” sedan and the “Enjoyable Space” SUV will be a part of GAC Toyota’s new “Bozhi” sub-brand lineup alongside the locally-produced version of the bZ4X.
