VinFast continues to expand their electric vehicle lineup as the company has launched the VF 7 in Vietnam.
Since we’ve already seen the crossover on numerous occasions, we’ll simply note the model has sleek styling and a “bird-wing-shaped” LED lighting strip up front. They’re joined by flush-mounted door handles, a ‘pinched’ rear pillar, and up to 20-inch alloy wheels.
In terms of size, the VF 7 measures 178.9 inches (4,545 mm) long and has a wheelbase that spans 111.8 inches (2,840 mm). To put those numbers into perspective, the crossover is 1.5 inches (38 mm) longer than the BMW X1 and has a 5.8 inch (147 mm) longer wheelbase.

The interior features a minimalist design as there isn’t much besides a 12.9-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. That being said, the crossover sports “vegan-leather” seats, a head-up display, and a distinctive shifter. The Plus variant goes a step further with a two-tone design and a panoramic glass roof.
The entry-level VF 7 has a 59.6 kWh battery pack that powers an electric motor developing 174 hp (130 kW / 177 PS) and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque. It will enable the city-focused variant to have a WLTP range of up to 375 km (233 miles).
Upgrading to the VF 7 Plus rewards buyers with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing up to 349 hp (260 kW / 354 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. Customers will also find a larger 75.3 kWh battery pack, which increases the WLTP range up to 431 km (268 miles). On top of that, the dash to 62 mph (100 km/h) takes 5.8 seconds.
On the safety front, VinFast said buyers will find adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, automatic emergency braking, and a forward collision warning system. They’re joined by rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and a surround view camera system.
In Vietnam, pricing starts at 999 million dong ($41,383) and climbs to 1.199 billion dong ($49,669) for the Plus variant. However, customers can get a discount by leasing the battery separately.
VinFast will begin accepting reservations on December 2 and Vietnamese deliveries are slated to begin in early 2024. The crossover will eventually be offered in additional markets including the United States.
