Two stunning examples of the hybrid hypercar holy trinity will be auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s on December 8 in New York. Both the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder are painted blue and are bound to get collectors excited.
The P1 in question is a 2015 model and is painted in a unique color known as Professor 2 Blue. A handful of red accent stripes are also found across the exterior and the car sits on wheels with matte black and silver elements. A number of special touches also make the interior stand out.
For example, the red leather seats have been inspired by those of the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona and the passenger side vanity mirror has been etched with the words ‘You are beautiful’ for the original owner’s wife.
The auction house notes that the car has $139,847 worth of options through McLaren Special Operations and that it has been signed by both Ron Dennis and former McLaren design director Frank Stephenson. The car has been driven less than 2,700 miles (4,345 km) and is expected to sell for between $2 million and $2.5 million.
Then we have the Porsche 918 Spyder. This example is number 488 of the 918 examples produced and is one of just four painted in Mexico Blue. It was sold new in the United States and the gorgeous blue paint is contrasted with Acid Green brake calipers and exposed carbon fiber on the wing mirror caps and the rear wing. A clear paint protection film has been applied across the entire exterior.

Compared to the P1, the interior of this 918 Spyder is quite understated as most of the surfaces are trimmed in simple Onyx Black leather, although the Acid Green piping and stitching do catch the eye. The interior also features heaps of gloss carbon fiber accents and looks like an incredible place to spend time. A look at the odometer reveals the car has been driven 1,844 miles (2,967 km) and RM Sotheby’s expects it to sell for between $1.9 million and $2.2 million.
