We have good news for those who want to pick up the keys to the new Mini Cooper S, but want something with a little more visual impact than the standard model. The carmaker has just unveiled a special John Cooper Works Trim for the punchy hatchback that gives it some classic JCW looks without the extreme performance. The bad news? It’s basically only about the appearance, folks.
Alterations made to the Cooper SE with the John Cooper Works Trim package start with a new front grille surround and logo finished in high-gloss black. The hatch also features individual light signatures in the LED headlights, including two simple horizontal stripes serving as the DRLs.
Elsewhere, Mini has fitted the JCW Trim model with a set of special 18-inch, 10-spoke wheels with a two-tone design and sitting over a set of red brake calipers. The car also features a contrasting roof and wing mirror caps painted in Chilli Red and has red graphics running over the hood.
This isn’t simply an exterior package either as the JCW Trim also brings with it some interior updates. These include sportier seats with synthetic leather and red stitching. The dashboard and door panels also have a unique black and red theme and the large central infotainment screen has been updated to include a Go-Kart mode that changes the interior lighting to red and optimizes the throttle response of the Cooper SE.

No mechanical upgrades have been made. As a result, the Cooper SE John Cooper Works Trim is still powered by a single electric motor with 215 hp and 243 lb-ft (330 Nm) of torque. This engine receives its juice from a 54.2 kWh battery pack that gives the car up to 250 miles (402 km) of range on the WLTP testing cycle. It can also hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in a respectable 6.7 seconds and can be charged from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes.
“The all-electric MINI Cooper SE in the new John Cooper Works Trim combines a passion for iconic design, legendary performance and sustainable mobility,” Mini brand head Stefanie Wurst said when describing it. “It is the epitome of efficiency and driving pleasure.” Prices haven’t been announced.
