Getting into an accident is never fun, but a driver in Delaware may have found the worst possible way to get into an accident that resulted in no injuries. That’s because he had the misfortune of crashing into a vehicle that was a part of President Joe Biden’s motorcade.
The incident occurred on Sunday, December 17, at around 8:00 p.m. in Wilmington, Delaware. The president was at his campaign headquarters, having dinner with members of his team, and was on his way out of the event when the crash happened.
First Lady Jill Biden was already in a black SUV, and the president was making his way to the vehicle after answering questions from the press, reports the New York Times. In video footage of the incident, the president can be seen slowly walking towards his vehicle, when a loud thud startles him and Secret Service agents around him. Following the incident, they quickly directed him into the vehicle.

Fortunately, the president’s motorcade was able to depart without further incident, and no injuries were reported as a result of the crash. Further footage of the incident shows that the vehicle in question was a silver Ford Five Hundred.
Despite no injuries resulting from the incident, the front of the Five Hundred appears to have sustained a reasonable amount of damage. The front bumper can be seen hanging off the right side of the car, and the front fender of the black SUV that was part of President Biden’s motorcade is also damaged.
As you might expect, Secret Service agents and heavily armed police took an interest in the vehicle, and quickly surrounded it. Video footage shows that the man at the wheel quickly put his hands up while being yelled at by authorities.
Fortunately, this all appears to have been a simple accident, with the Secret Service saying that “there was no protective interest associated with this event.” In plain English, that means that it was an honest mistake.
