Honda announced its lineup for the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024, which is focused on customized vehicles and racecars. The most interesting exhibits are the WR-V Field Explorer Concept and the Accord e:HEV Sports Line, showing what future owners will be able to do using Honda’s genuine accessories.
Starting with the WR-V, the budget-friendly SUV is the Japanese version of the Indian-spec Honda Elevate. The model will be imported from India to Japan starting this March, and Honda wanted to explore its adventurous side with the rugged “Field Explorer” concept.

The highlight of the concept is the new grille with Honda lettering and three LED marker lights, matching the yellow fog lights. The chrome and aluminum-style trim around the bodywork has been replaced with black accents, while the headlights and taillights appear to be tinted. Other changes compared to the rather bland-looking standard WR-V include the black wheels shod in off-road tires, the protective side skirts, and the roof rack.
As a reminder, the JDM-spec version of this 4,312 mm (169.8 inches) long SUV is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine generating 119 hp (89 kW / 121 PS) paired exclusively to a CVT gearbox that drives the front wheels. The lack of an AWD version limits the WR-V’s off-road abilities despite the generous 220 mm (8.7 inches) ground clearance of the standard model.
Moving on to the Honda Accord e:HEV Sports Line, it is a sporty-looking trim of the sedan using Honda’s genuine accessories. It rides on a set of dark-finished multi-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels, and features discreet aero components finished in glossy black. Note that the Accord is scheduled to arrive in Japan in Spring 2024, exclusively available with a hybrid powertrain.

Honda’s “customized vehicle” lineup in Tokyo will also include the modified Honda Civic Type R Mugen Gr.A and Gr.B versions, which were previewed in last year’s show. Furthermore, the automaker will also show a total of 8 racing models from different types of motorsport categories. Most of them are based on the hot hatch, including the extreme Type R-GT from the Super GT Series, and the Type R CNF-R that participates in endurance races using carbon-neutral fuel. There is also another mysterious and yet-unreleased Civic-based racecar called “Joy Resistance” that will feature an aggressive aero package and a hybrid powertrain.
We’ll have more details about Honda’s exhibits at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024, which takes place at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture from January 12 to 14.
