While MG doesn’t have a presence in the United States, the company has established itself as a growing force in many key markets around the world and, for 2024, is planning a host of upgrades for its ICE and EV models,
During a recent interview with Autocar, MG’s business unit general manager Lu Jiajun revealed that in the first half of the year, the company will update its ICE models while its EVs will receive updates in the second half of the year. Among MG’s most important new ICE vehicles launched next year will include successors to both the 3 supermini and the ZS. The same report adds that MG is readying facelifts for both the MG5 estate and the MG7 sedans.
“MG’s plans roughly look like this: in the first half of the year, the existing fuel vehicle products will be strengthened; in the second half of the year, we will focus on electric models,” Jiajun said.
With the global launch of the compelling MG4 EV, the company has established itself as a serious rival to BYD with its competitively-priced EVs. Unlike BYD, MG still believes there is an important future for combustion-powered vehicles and will not “give up” on them, Jiajun told Autocar.

“We will not give up the fuel-vehicle market. After all, many global markets still favor traditional vehicles.”
As for the brand’s EV plans, it is said to be already developing a facelifted version of the MG4 with a thoroughly upgraded interior. Next year, it will also launch a flagship electric SUV that will serve as a successor to the Marvel R. This new model will be based on SAIC’s Modular Scalable Platform that supports battery swapping and battery packs as large as 150 kWh. Whereas the Marvel R is only produced in left-hand drive, surging brand sales in the UK and Australia have convinced MG to also produce its successor in right-hand drive.
