2023 proved to be a year of surprising automotive news from around the world. Most of that had to do with new model releases, at least one very aggressive pickup truck, and some other unexpected automotive happenings. That brings us to our question of the day. What do you want to see from automakers in 2024?
As mentioned, some of the biggest stories this year had to do with new models or updated models. Take for example the new Toyota Land Cruiser coming to the market in the near future. It’s very retro, very boxy, and very cheap compared to the last generation that was offered in the USA. Maybe fans want more retro-styled vehicles to arrive next year.
On the flip side, the Tesla Cybertruck can’t help but make both positive and negative waves just about everywhere it goes. Some of that has to do with Tesla’s embattled CEO Elon Musk but some of it has to do with the design and engineering of the truck. Any other automaker willing to go out on a limb and do something like the Cybertruck could end up being good for the entire market.

Perhaps you’d like to see automakers innovate in other ways. Solid-state batteries appear to be inching closer and closer to real-world production. If that happens it could prove to be a genuine game changer for both EVs and internal combustion cars. Such batteries could provide far faster charging speeds and far better energy density. Of course, that brings us to another issue altogether, charging infrastructure.
A group of automakers has agreed to come together to build more charging infrastructure in the USA but maybe you want to see more. Adding spaces to do more than sit in a queue waiting to charge or stalls to sit in one’s car during charging would be a benefit. That’s the idea behind things like Tesla’s new diner and Mercedes’ lounges.
Of course, it might just be new cars that you’re most excited about. Whatever it is let us know in the comments below and be sure to vote for your favorites!
