While much of the automotive industry is still teeming with buzz around the Tesla Cybertruck, it’s worth remembering that it isn’t the first pickup truck that’s unlike any other to come before it. Back in the 1980s, Lamborghini did the unthinkable and released a pickup and a particularly special example has come across our desks.

This LM002 has been in the possession of the current owner since 2001. It has been driven just 24,000 km (~15,000 miles) from new and last year, was repainted in the factory white color. There aren’t all that many LM002s in the United States and given its rarity, it’s hardly a surprise that bidding has already surpassed $200,000 with more than a week left in the auction.

The Lamborghini truck sits on its original 17-inch OZ alloy wheels that are wrapped in gargantuan 345/60 Pirelli Scorpion tires from 2002 that need to be changed. While the LM002’s design is almost 40 years old, it is just as dramatic now as it was back in the mid-1980s and on the street, probably turns even more heads than a Cybertruck.

A truck this dramatic deserves a cabin just as bold as the exterior and that’s exactly what the LM002 has. The seats, center console, door panels, and dashboard are all clad in bright red leather and there are a handful of wooden elements, fitting for a vehicle from this era.

Driving the truck is the same 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V12 as the Lamborghini Countach, good for a very respectable 444 hp when it was new. This engine is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. Aiding in the LM002’s off-roading abilities is a dual-range transfer case, the ability to switch between rear- and all-wheel drive, and a locking center differential.
