It’s not very often that a Japanese classic as beloved as the Honda S2000 is radically overhauled to the point where it barely resembles its former self but that’s exactly what Joshua Opheim has done with S2K. Not only is it one of the most eye-catching S2Ks we’ve come across, but it is also one of the coolest.

Opheim purchased the Honda with a salvage title after it had sustained serious front-end damage in a crash. He then embarked on a two-year-long project to thoroughly overhaul its design and the changes made to it are particularly wild at the front.

Rather than repairing the S2000 with an original bumper and grille like most would do, Opheim crafted a new splitter using part from the S2000 CR and then fitted thin LED stripes that run diagonally down the fascia in a design somewhat similar to the Peugeot 9X8 race car.

Elsewhere, the car’s doors have been removed – for some reason – and it features flared front and rear wheel arches. Adding to the looks are the removal of the wing mirrors and the fitment of small rear-facing cameras on the front arches. For as cool as the car looks from the front and the side, it is the rear that we find most impressive.

The rear is completely bespoke and includes an LED light bar and taillights from an unspecified Audi e-tron model and surrounded by black grilles from a Ford Fusion. Opheim then equipped it with the top-exiting tailpipes of a McLaren 600LT and the rear diffuser of a Ferrari F430. Incredibly, the mish-mash of parts works very well together and makes for a cohesive and futuristic design.
