Do you have experience with big wieners? If so, Oscar Mayer wants to hear from you as they’re looking for people to drive the iconic Wienermobile.
Through January 31, the company is accepting applications for Hotdoggers who will spend the year traveling the country and promoting the brand as part of a “paid gig.” Oscar Mayer said the team typically travels 20,000 miles (32,187 km) per year, visiting at least 40 cities and attending more than 1,200 events.
That’s a busy schedule and driving is only part of the experience as Hotdoggers act as brand ambassadors. Their purpose is “spreading joy and wiener whistles to adoring fans.” As part of this effort, they’re tasked with promoting Oscar Mayer on social media with the assistance of the 27 foot (8.2 meter) long hot dog on wheels.

The company is looking to hire 12 people and the job listing notes Hotdoggers will undergo two weeks of immersive onboarding and job training, which will be followed up with on-going coaching and mentorship. The job application goes on to say they’re looking for people who are trustworthy, flexible, positive and outgoing, and have experience working with the public. An understanding of social media is also critical as are organizational and time management skills.
Given this, the firm wants “outgoing, creative, friendly college graduates who have an appetite for adventure and willingness to see the country through the windshield of the iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.” Besides a Bachelor’s degree, applicants will need a valid driver’s license and a “favorable driving record” as well as the ability to pass a background check.
Hotdoggers receive a base salary of $35,600 and receive a weekly allowance of $150 (which is $7,200 per year) for meals and personal travel. On top of that, there’s healthcare coverage and 18 paid days off.
Oscar Mayer’s Ed Roland said the “The title of a Hotdogger is a rare and coveted position unique to those seeking adventure and a once-in-a-lifetime experience” as “statistically speaking, more people have visited space than driven the Wienermobile!” He added, “We take pride in welcoming the next class who will continue to uphold the tradition of sparking smiles and bringing buns of fun to fans across the U.S.”
