For decades, Jeep fans craved a new V8 version of the Wrangler and now, it appears as though it’s about to go away. A document purportedly leaked from a Jeep dealer indicates that a 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 ‘Final Edition’ is coming… and going… very soon.
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 broke the mold with its 470 hp ( kW) 6.4-liter Hemi V8. It could crawl rocks with the best of the brand and still do 0-60 mph in 4 seconds flat. Of course, it also starts at $92,140 for the 2024 model year.
The rumored ‘Final Edition’ seems to indicate that the days of a Hemi-powered Wrangler are just about done. That information comes from a Jeep Wrangler JL forum and was spotted by Motor1 initially. Text in the document specifically holds out the carrot of “Win allocation of the Hot-Selling V8-powered Wrangler Rubicon 392!”

While that itself doesn’t indicate the end of 392 production, the line at the bottom of the document seems to. It reads, “At end of the January sales month, dealers which beat their full month January 2024 vs January 2023 for the assigned target Jeep Brand Vehicle will be awarded one (1) unit of dealer stock allocation for the 2024MY Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 ‘Final Edition.'”
There’s no way to know if the “Final Edition” truly is the last V8 Wrangler. Regardless, it would be reasonable to think that the end of the line is close. The folks over at Dodge are done building Hemi-powered Chargers and Challengers. Other Jeep products like the Wagoneer have lost access to V8s too.
If this is indeed the end of the line for the V8 Wrangler expect dealers to gouge customers the same way they have for Dodge and RAM products. History appears to indicate that Stellantis will do very little to disincentivize the practice.
