We’re big Land Cruiser fans, but to suggest that Chad Nasir merely likes Toyota’s legendary SUV hardly does the man’s passion justice. He’s obsessed with them, and in little over a year has taken his collection from zero to 24 examples.
What makes Michigan-based Nasir’s collection all the more interesting is that almost every Land Cruiser in his fleet is left-hand drive, equipped with a manual transmission, and was sourced from the Middle East and then shipped to America. Nasir explained to Road & Track that he grew up in Libya, where Land Cruisers were high-status vehicles available only to the very wealthy, and promised himself following his move to the U.S. that he’d start buying them when funds allowed.

The first pair of SUVs were 2013 and 2015 U.S.-market Land Cruisers, but after that he cast his net across the globe and back in time, snapping up classics like a 70-Series pickup from Saudi Arabia and a ton of 80-Series models. According to reporter Kristin Shaw, Nasir has been buying between one and two Land Cruisers every month for the past 15 months and shows no sign of stopping. Some have more than 200,000 miles (320,000 km) on the clock and are used for daily duties, while others have covered only 60,000 miles (100,000 km) and are saved for special occasions.
A collection this large needs a suitably large garage, but fortunately Nasir has one of those in the form of a big unit where he can store and work on his classic fleet to keep the SUVs in top condition. His day job should come in handy here because Nasir owns Midnight Protective Films, whose services include applying protective ceramic coatings as well as window tints and vinyl wraps.
