There’s only one Christopher Walken and he’s on full display in a teaser for BMW’s Super Bowl commercial.
The clip shows the iconic actor talking to his agent, who is trying to explain what teasers are. Walken then asks, “It’s an ad for an ad?” before saying “Why would they do that?”
We’ll find out soon enough, but the clip “pokes fun” at the very nature of teasers themselves. The first spot will be followed by another teaser, which will be released in the coming days. The full ad will then debut on February 5, before being shown during the Super Bowl on February 11.
The teaser isn’t very revealing, but BMW doesn’t have a shortage of products to promote. Yesterday alone, the company introduced the facelifted 4-Series Coupe and Convertible, the updated M4 lineup, and a Z4 M40i with a six-speed manual. The automaker also announced a handful of smaller updates as well as plans to offer additional versions of the 5-Series in America.
Speaking of which, it seems likely that Walken will be promoting the redesigned 5-Series in the company’s Super Bowl commercial. That remains to be seen, but the timing makes sense as the car recently started arriving at U.S. dealerships.

Regardless of what the ad promotes, it marks BMW’s return to Super Bowl advertising following a break in 2023. The commercial was directed by Bryan Buckley, who has been described as the “King of the Super Bowl” as he’s been behind dozens of ‘big game’ ads.
Goodby Silverstein & Partners is the ad agency behind the project and BMW will be heavily promoting the teasers in an effort to build excitement for the full commercial. As part of this effort, you can expect to see clips on Facebook and Instagram as well as Amazon, Roku, TikTok, and YouTube.
