The updated Lancia Ypsilon has been snapped without any camouflage during a promotional shoot in Italy, providing us with a completely unobstructed view of the new model ahead of its unveiling and market launch this year.
Lancia has been selling the outgoing Ypsilon in Europe since 2011 and to say it is outdated would be an understatement. Fortunately, the new-generation model has been completely overhauled and looks nothing like its predecessor. In fact, it is quite a good-looking hatchback and that’s not something we thought we’d ever say when referring to the Ypsilon.

This particular example that was shared on social medial by a number of users including Masera on Facebook is finished in a dark shade of blue and has a number of black accents. The front end is characterized by a split LED light bar with a small central element that runs vertically. The main headlamp units are then located slightly lower on the fascia and there is also a black grille.
Elsewhere, we can see that the new hatchback is rolling on a set of gloss black wheels with silver elements. The thick C-pillars also have a gloss black finish and the blue and black theme continues at the rear with a black roof spoiler and a black decklid that houses a large Lancia logo. A set of circular LED taillights also catches the eye and help to modernize the look of the car.
These photos also provide us with a glimpse of the car’s interior. The most striking element is the digital instrument cluster and large landscape-oriented infotainment display. Lancia has also crafted an intriguing center console with a large circular pad that reminds us of the helicopter pad attached to the side of the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai.
Lancia has confirmed that it will sell the new Ypsilon in hybrid and battery-electric guises. The electric version shares many of its components with both the Jeep Avenger and Peugeot e-208, meaning there will probably be a 154 hp electric motor driven by a 54 kWh battery pack.
The official world premiere for the new Ypsilon is scheduled for February 14.
