The Mini Takes The States cross-country road rally is back for 2024 and will run from July 13, 2024, to July 21, 2024, starting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and ending in Seattle, Washington.
The most recent iteration of the event was held in 2022 and attracted more than 2,000 owners and 800 vehicles. Participants drove more than 1,700 miles down an inland route from Vermont to South Carolina but this year, the scenery will be a little bit different.

After kicking off on July 13, the rally will make stops in Durango and Grand Junction in Colorado as well as Salt Lake City in Utah, Bozeman and Missoula in Montana, and Yakima in Washington. During the road trip, attendees will pass through several spectacular regions across the United States, including Yellowstone National Park and the Lolo National Forest near Missoula. There are bound to be plenty of epic driving roads throughout the journey, too.
The Mini Takes The States trip has been held every two years since 2006 and for a registration fee of less than $100, attendees receive all their meals, parking, and roadside maintenance for their vehicles. The main expense is the hotels but they too are discounted, meaning the whole trip is very affordable. It’s little wonder why hundreds of Mini owners choose to participate.
Participating in this year’s event will no doubt be a host of Mini’s most recent models. These will probably include the 2025 Countryman that launched late last year and is sold as standard in ALL4 guise with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 241 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. Several Countryman John Cooper Works models can also be expected to participate.
